Urban Lab in Kiel zum Thema Creative Bureaucracy
Das nächte Urban Lab des Interreg Projekts UrbCulturalPlanning findet am 24. und 25. Februar 2020 in Kiel statt. Das Lab widmet sich dem Thema Creative Bureaucracy.
Ziel des Urban Labs ist es Möglichkeiten für ein nachhaltigeres Kiel auszuloten. Das zweitägige Lab, das in deutscher und englischer Sprache stattfindet, adressiert Akteur*innen aus der Kieler Politik und Verwaltung, internationale Teilnehmer*innen aus dem UrbCulturalPlanning Projekt sowie weitere Interessierte wie z.B. Städteplaner*innen, Künstler*innen, Wissenschaftler*innen, Student*innen und Aktivist*innen.
Das Urban Lab ist in zwei Abschnitte gegliedert:
1. WHAT (Tina Saaby)
Im ersten Teil des Labs steht die Formulierung von strategischen Zielen für eine nachhaltigere Stadt im Vordergrund. Diese Ziele lassen sich von den 17 SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) ableiten. Darüber hinaus soll es konkret um die Umsetzbarkeit dieser formulierten Ziele gehen - für die Stadt Kiel und auch Städte anderenorts. Die dänische Stadtplanerin und Architektin Tina Saaby wird diesen Teil des Labs begleiten.
2. HOW (Charles Landry)
Der zweite Teil das Labs beschäftigt sich mit der konkreten Umsetzbarkeit dieser Ziele und der Frage welche Rolle Creative Bureaucracy dabei spielt. Begleitet wird der zweite Teil vom britischen Städteforscher Charles Landry, der bereits mit der Stadt Kiel auf dieser Ebene zusammenarbeitet, und die Initiative der Creative Bureaucracy entwickelt hat.
What kind of administration does a liveable city need (which implements the SDGs)? Do we need a new way of (governing) collabo- ration in administration to tackle today’s/to- morrows problems? How could this look like?

CHARLES LANDRY will mentor the first day. Charles is author, speaker and international adviser on the future of cities. He established the Creative City concept initi- ating a movement to rethink the planning, develop- ment and management of cities. He is author of several books such as “The Art of City Making”, „The Civic City in a Nomadic World“,“ Psychology and the City“, „The Crea- tive Bureaucracy & its Radical Common Sense“. He has chaired multiple urban innovation juries including The European Capital of Innovation Award – iCapital, New Innovations in the Creative Economy (N.I.C.E.) and Actors for Urban Change. He is a fellow of The Robert Bosch Academy in Berlin.
TINA SAABY will guide through the second day, from vision to implementation, and share her knowledge, from having been a partner in her own office, WITRAZ Architects, from being the vice president for the Danish Architectural Association, from being a jury member in more than 80 competitions, from having been a visiting professor, censor and having taught at different universities - and from being the city architect in Copenhagen 2010-2019.
The Urban Lab happening in February 2020 wanted to raise the question how administration can adapt to these challenges. What type of bureaucracy will be needed in the future to enable creativity to unfold? The core role of artists and artistic processes in triggering creativity was highlighted, and the importance for creativity in developing transformative pathways. Although looking at a specific example, the workshop had the intension to enable participants to follow-up on the exercises in their own local contexts.
